Sensor protectors

Multilayered structures play an important role in the production of, e.g., biomaterials, catalysts, corrosion protectors, detectors/diodes, gas and humidity sensors, integral circuits, optical parts, solar cells, and wear protection materials. One of the most sophisticated developments is a head-up-display (HUD) for cars, consisting of a polycarbonate substrate and a series of the layers Cr (25 nm), A1 (150 nm), SiO, (55 nm), TiO, (31 nm), and SiO, (8 nm). Such systems should be characterized by non-destructive analytical methods. [Pg.411]

MgO is has cubic crystal structure, as shown in Fig. 2.10. MgO ceramics have excellent thermal and mechanical properties with a high melting point of 2850 °C and low density of 3.58 g cm. It has an isotropic cubic crystal strucmre, which meets one of the requirements to be transparent. PolycrystaUine infrared-transparent MgO is a potential substitute for sapphire IR windows and protectors for sensors. Due to the high sintering temperature required for full densification of MgO, fabrication of transparent MgO ceramics is stiU a challenge. Almost aU techniques discussed above have been used to prepare transparent MgO ceramics [3]. [Pg.46]

The formation of PPy on an electrode surface provides a nanoporous matrix that is highly used for the immobilization of biomolecules to design various biosensors (electrochemical biosensor, immunosensor, and DNA sensor). It also acts as a mediator to transfer the analytical signal generated by some redox enzymes to the transducer even if the redox center is deeply buried in the protein globule. In addition, it is an efficient protector of electrodes against interfacing materials (proteins present in real samples such as blood and urine). [Pg.77]

There are two main applieations for this type of eell. Reserve batteries are for applications requiring extremely long shelf and operational life (10-30 years) and relatively low diseharge rates. The non-reserve types are used for applieations such as covert sensors, implantable medieal deviees, watches, currency trackers, memory protectors and frangible weather sondes. [Pg.408]
