Strychnos nux-vomica (Loganiaceae) is a tree that grows wild in India, Sri Lanka, and the northern area of Australia. The seeds of this plant are known as Machin-shi (in Japanese) or vomica (Strychni Semen), and they are used for maintaining health of the stomach at a medicinal dose.
