Other aromatic best-sellers in the pharmacy are given below. Syntheses of these compounds are simple and may be outlined by the interested reader himself. The only common open-chain synthetic drug is meprobamate. Its conventional synthesis is given. [Pg.301]

For specific applications, other minor impurities may be requited to be controlled to limiting maxima by agreement between the purchaser and the seller. Includes elements for which no specific limit is shown. [Pg.323]

It shows concisely the existing vendor capacities for the raw material, planned expansions or new producers, demands for other uses, and demand within the analyst s company. In some cases, the report includes a wodd supply and demand balance. A key objective of a purchase profile report is to make the buyer as well informed as the marketing manager of the seller. If this is achieved, the buyer can often secure a beneficial purchase contract. [Pg.538]

Prior to 1960, an injured plaintiff seeking recovery in a products HabiUty action could bring a case under either of two theories. The plaintiff could allege that the product seller was negligent, or that the seller breached a warranty that attended every product sale provided for under the Uniform Sales Act and, later, under Section 2-314 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), which stipulated that for a product to be merchantable it must be "reasonably fit for the ordinary purposes for which such goods are used." Each of these theories came with a distinct disadvantage. [Pg.96]

AH discussion of the post-1965 era must begin with the Restatement (Second) of Torts, Section 402A. The person responsible for this section was Dean William Prosser, who became the reporter for American Law Institute s Restatement (Second) of Torts at a time when change was on the horizon in the field of products HabiUty. His initiative in drafting Section 402A provided the courts with a ready-made formulation for the adoption of strict tort HabiUty. Entitled "Special Liabihty of Seller of Product for Physical Harm to the User or Consumer," Section 402A reads as follows ... [Pg.98]

One who sells any product in a defective condition unreasonably dangerous to the user or consumer or to his property is subject to liability for physical harm thereby caused to the ultimate user or consumer, or to his property, if (a) the seller is engaged in the business of selling such a product, and (b) it is expected to and does reach the user or consumer without substantial change in the condition in which it is sold. [Pg.98]

The rule stated [above] applies although (a) the seller has exercised all possible care in the preparation and sale of his product, and (b) the user or consumer has not bought the product from or entered into any... [Pg.98]

Safe condition at the time of delivery by the seller will, however, include proper packaging, necessary sterilization, and other precautions required to permit the product to remain safe for a normal length of time... [Pg.98]

Sugar trading is controlled by contractual agreements between buyers and sellers. The contracts set specifications and limits and detail the required tests that must be conducted. In the United States, three parties participate in the analyses of raw sugar the buyer, the seller, and the New York Sugar Trade Laboratory (NYSTL). The settiement value for polarization is determined as the average of the two closest results if all three results are equidistant, all three results are averaged. [Pg.9]

The quahty of various grades of castor oil have been prescribed by the International Castor Oil Association, Inc. (ICOAI). Specifications prescribed for the triglyceride oil derived from a plant of the genus Acinus communis are shown in Table 4. The International Castor Oil Association, Inc. has also estabUshed chemical properties to be used in the event of a dispute between buyer and seller as to the purity of the oil. These specifications are given in Table 5. [Pg.151]

Published Cost Correla.tions. Purchased cost of an equipment item, ie, fob at seller s site or other base point, is correlated as a function of one or more equipment—size parameters. A size parameter is some elementary measure of the size or capacity, such as the heat-transfer area for a heat exchanger (see HeaT-EXCHANGETECHNOLOGy). Historically the cost—size correlations were graphical log—log plots, but the use of arbitrary equation forms for correlation has become quite common. If cost—size equations are used in computer databases, some limit logic must be included so that the equation is not used outside of the appHcable size range. [Pg.441]
