Most dosing pots are constructed of steel and will withstand 150 psi pressure. They can be supplied in a variety of sizes, typically 2, 5, 10, 25 gal. Also, they are available with either a wide-mouthed closure, with a self-aligning seal, ensuring self-sealing to the tank body, or a funnel type, with a gate valve between the funnel and the tank body. They can normally accept briquette, powder, or liquid treatments. [Pg.364]

If the rubber closure or component is intended to be pierced by a hypodermic needle, then the physical test regime of the European Pharmacopoeia applies. This includes test method limits for penetrability, fragmentation and self-sealing categorisation (type I or type II closures), and methods for the determination of penetration force and fragmentation. [Pg.359]

Plasticity of the host rock is another desirable property. It ensures that fractures that may develop and may provide access for groundwater will be self-sealing. Plasticity also permits a gradual closure of excavated openings. In rock salt, with the compaction, reconsolidation, and recrystallization of the crushed-salt backfill in the galleries and rooms, the waste will eventually be contained in a massive and solid salt formation. [Pg.614]

This is one of the first self-sealing joints based on die unsupported area principle. This joint was developed by Dr. P.W. Bridgman who was the auflior of the book, The Physics of High Pressure , published in 1931. This type of sealing configuration has been used many times since 1929 and is highly reliable. Pressures up to 100,000 PSI have been achieved for small closures and pressures in the range of 25,000 PSI are readily available. [Pg.518]

From a design standpoint, the total hydrostatic end force, H, is taken by the threads in a threaded closure, or by the studs in other designs. Various types of gaskets can be used with either design but all are the self-sealing type such as Bridgman, delta or double cone. [Pg.539]

An autoclave is a thick-walled vessel, usually made of steel, which allows us to carry out reactions under pressure and at high temperatures. (The original definition implied a self-closing vessel with internal pressure sealing its joints the closure is now made externally.)... [Pg.517]
