Self-latching

Emergency stop devices are required for machinery They shall have a red button on yellow background, be self-latching, positively opening, readily accessible to operator, manually activated, require manual reset. Resetting the E-stop switch shall not restart any part of the machine.

NFPA 30,5.5.2.1 4.4.21 If hose is used in the transfer operation, it shall be equipped with a self-closing valve without a hold-open latch in addition to the outlet valve. Only listed or approved hose shall be used. 

Some early oven doors were of the guillotine type, which could be raised or lowered vertically with a simple hoist. Many vendors now sell gas cabinets equipped with self-closing and latching doors and windows, sprinkler heads and various types of purge assemblies (see Fig. 5). Self-closing All fire doors should be fitted with self-closing devices that are maintained so that the door closes positively against the door stops and where appropriate latches effectively. The notable exceptions to this are those doors that are normally kept locked shut, e.g. doors to cupboards or service ducts.Where it is considered a hindrance to have a fire door closed at all times it may be held open by an automatic release mechanism that is actuated by an automatic detection and alarm system.
