As is the case with mentoring for parfners, fhe executive mentor s task consists of supporting the executive in making significant transitions. Transitions can be effected in areas such as the executive s thought processes, their perspectives and their self-knowledge.

However much experience one may have had, there is always the possibility of delusions occurring in these psychedelic states. A second requirement for the development of compassion is empathy. Empathy is a recognition of a feeling/thinking state in another,/>/mj an ability to at least partially experience that same state in yourself. Thus empathy ties in with self-knowledge. To recognize that someone is depressed, for example, could be done in a cold, intellectual way. You could learn that certain facial expressions, body postures, and styles of speaking usually mean that a person is depressed. To also emotionally know what it is like to feel depressed from your own experience leads to the experience of empathy. This does not necessarily mean that you must feel as depressed as the depressed person you are empathizing with. 

The open self-knowledge and maturity that give you intimate, experiential knowledge of a wide range of human suffering (and abilities)... 

To illustrate a problem I doubt is unique, one of the reasons 1 was attracted to several spiritual paths in my past was that I had an immature need to feel superior to other people, in order to mask feelings of inferiority in myself. That was my problem, not one necessarily inherent in any of those various paths. Yet there are teachers and systems around that have lost touch with their original spiritual impetus and now cater to those sorts of immature emotions. Continual increase in our self-knowledge is essential. Why am 1 interested in a certain path or teacher ... 

Some of the earliest published reports on the effects of provision of pharmaceutical care provided insight into the effects of a pharmacy program in the care of patients with hypertension. In an early study by McKenney and colleagues, the effects of clinical pharmacy services in a group of hypertensive patients were described. Those patients who received pharmacy services in addition to standard care by their physician demonstrated an improvement in self-knowledge of their disease state, improved compliance, and better blood pressure control. Subsequent investigations have demonstrated a positive effect of pharmacy services on cost and quality of life in patients treated for hypertension. 

In the beginning, through Divine Wisdom, the Great Whole World was created out of this materia prima (Chaos). This materia is with the Human Being one nature, but with this difference, that this Primordial Matter expands in all creatures, but in Human Being it concentrates. That is the true Self-Knowledge, the highest Study in hermetic Science.
