If an entity possesses, uses, or transfers select agents, it must comply with all requirements of the National Select Agent Program. For additional guidance on CDC and USDA Select Agent Programs, refer to 42 CFR Part 73, 7 CFR Part 331, and 9 CFR Part 121. 

The most commonly used scale inhibitors are low molecular weight acrylate polymers and organophosphoms compounds (phosphonates). Both classes of materials function as threshold inhibitors however, the polymeric materials are more effective dispersants. Selection of a scale control agent depends on the precipitating species and its degree of supersaturation. The most effective scale control programs use both a precipitation inhibitor and a dispersant. In some cases this can be achieved with a single component (eg, polymers used to inhibit calcium phosphate at near neutral pH). 

The choice of the strain of microorganism is one of the important variables in the process. The strains to be used in manufacture are mutants of the original producer, which are chosen as the result of a planned program of mutant selection. Sometimes a spontaneous mutation occurs usually, it is induced by mutagenic agents or irradiation of various sorts. The choice of the best strain depends on its abiUty to produce large amounts of the proper antibiotic in a reasonable time from ingredients that are economically feasible (73). 

The approved method for disposal of chemical agent and decontamination of other munition components Is incineration (2 ). Figure 2 presents the functional disposal process selected for this program. 

Sotalol (13) is a racemic mixture, and its two enantiomers have been studied extensively [47-51]. As expected from studies with other ff-blocking agents, the Class II activity resides predominantly in only one enantiomer [(-)-sotalol] while the Class III activity can be found equally in both enantiomers. Therefore, the (-I-)-enantiomer, which is essentially devoid of P-blocking activity, has been studied as one of the few early examples of a selective Class III agent. Both sotalol [52-55] and its enantiomer, (-l-)-sota-lol [56-58], have been shown to be clinically effective in the prevention of ventricular arrhythmias.
