J. Proton Affinity Retrieval Prograno. With the current high level of interest in chemical ionization mass spectrometry, there is a need for a reliable file of gas phase proton affinities. No data base of this sort has previously been assembled and for these reasons, the task of gathering and evaluating all published gas phase proton affinities has been undertaken by Rosenstock and co-workers at NBS. This file [28], which has about 400 critically evaluated gas phase proton affinities drawn from the open literature, and can be searched on the basis of compound type or the proton affinity value. It will be appended to the MSSS and the bibliographic component will be merged with the Mass Spectrometry Bulletin Search System. [Pg.275]

Some sections are further divided by particular subjects References are given for each chapter. Although representative information was carefully included, the references were not exhaustive. With the modern capability of literature search, an effort to include in the book all possible reports would be unnecessary. Most of the information in the book came from published literature. This includes original papers and also different books. As an example, the book of H. L. C. Meuzelaar, J. Haverkamp, and F. D. Hileman on pyrolysis-mass spectrometry of biomaterials was a valuable source of information for this subject. A few unpublished personal results were also included. [Pg.502]

Probably the most important among the large number of miscellaneous other resources for the mass spectrometrist (novice or veteran) is PubMed (MEDLINE), which deals with biomedical literature. This database is part of the search engine of the National Center for Biotechnology Information. Here one can find complete references, and often access to the full text, of just about all papers published on any topics in mass spectrometry http //www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/literature. [Pg.266]
