Multiple screw feeders are also used, because they secure a large cross-section flow channel that allows high overall flowrates to be achieved without excessive local rates of expansion. [Pg.59]

Covers for extended casing sections of U or vee form are generally flat, and folded over the sides of the casing for stiffness. Ridged forms are sometimes used to shed water on weatherproof constructions, or for stiffness on extra wide casings as used for multiple screw feeders. Hinged covers facilitate easy access, but protection for safe opening and, in the case of heavy covers, the avoidance of uncontrolled closure, should be incorporated, Fig. 6.4. [Pg.125]

There are two essential elements to a screw feeder, a supply hopper and a dispensing screw. At one end of the spectrum screws are employed to discharge bulk storage silos and hoppers, sometimes in multiple banks. The rate and accuracy of dispensation may or may not be important in such cases, but the primary function is to ensure a reliable and controllable discharge. Usually at the smaller end of the scale, feed screws are required to provide a definitive discharge rate, with an accuracy determined by the application needs. These machines may have a large or continuous re-supply system, but more often comprise a relatively small, integrated hopper that is replenished as required. [Pg.211]

Multiple hearth furnace for regeneration of adsorbent carbon furnace only including drive and motor, exit screw conveyor and inlet feeder. FOB cost = 6 325 000 at carbon feed rate = 1 kg/s with n = 0.60 for the range 0.02-10 kg/s. TM = 2.1-2.2. L/M = 0.3. [Pg.423]

The force feeders are equipped with single or multiple screws. These screws may be positioned vertically, at an angle, or horizontally. Tapered screws deaerate and... [Pg.421]

Solids feeders are composed of single or multiple screws that rotate inside a sleeve. Granules and additives from the feed and additive tanks are conveyed to the homogenizer by the feeders. Most solids feeders are single screws that deliver solids at a specific rate. Granules leave the feed tank continuously when the extruder is in operation. Figure 10-13 illustrates how a solids feeder operates. [Pg.239]
