Technology confusion with science

Decomposition Temperature n (Tac) The temperature at which a polymer or other material (usually organic compound) decomposes by breaking chemical bonds, symbolized by (no symbol is available, but Tac will be used for this purpose). This property should not be confused with the temperature of depolymerization. Tap (Groenewoud WM (2001) Characterization of polymers by thermal analysis. Elsevier Science and Technology Books, New York Lenz RW (1967) Organic chemistry of synthetic high polymers. Interscience, New York). G Zersetzungstemperatur f, F temperature de decomposition, temperature f, S temperatura de descomposicion, temperatura f, I temperatura di decomposizione, temperatura f. ... [Pg.197]

The name "monolith" stems from the Greek mono and lithos, single and stone. Every art and science has its own definition of the term monolith, and some confusion may arise. The Egyptian obelisks are monoliths, as are the menhirs of Asterix and Obelix, and the spectacular Ayers Rock in Australia can be considered as a monolith of nature. In separation technology, monoliths are used that are rods with well-defined macro- and mesoporosity. [Pg.256]
