The formation of 24-vinyloxycholesta-5,23-dien-3P-ol in Sargassum thunbergii would be the consequence of a transposition of 24,28-epoxyfucosterol. As with the rare cystosterol, it has been isolated in only a few species of Cystoseira and its structure is not yet finalized. 

A series of 16 triprenyl- and tetraprenyldrromanes, sargachromanols A-P, have been isolated from the species Sargassum siliquastrum harvested in Korea (Jaq u Island). Most of these present interesting antioxidant properties, and the two examples shown below are also inhibitors of butylcholine esterase (Jang et al, 2005). Similar compounds were isolated from Sargassum thunbergii, also from Korea (Seo et al, 2006).
