Sample cell assembly

The procedure to prepare the reference cell assembly including the closed cell is exhibited below by means of a series of photographs. In this connection, the closed cell used to prepare the reference cell assembly is needless to say of the same type and size as that used to prepare the sample cell assembly. [Pg.81]

Insertion of the sample cell assembly into the adiabatic jacket maintained at the T, of the run and the start of the adiabatic self-heating test for 2 cm of a chemical of the TD type confined in the closed cell... [Pg.89]

The reference cell assembly is successively taken out of the jacket, and the sample cell assembly including a closed cell, in which a definite quantity of a chemical of the TD type, the volume of which is also about 2 cm, has been confined in the same manner as performed to prepare the reference cell assembly in Subsection 4.5.2, is inserted into the adiabatic jacket. The quantity of a chemical of the TD type tested depends naturally on the specific gravity. [Pg.89]

Incidentally, as commented at the beginning of Subsection 4.5.2, and as explained in Subsections 7.4.1, 7.4.2 and 7.4.3, it is not required, in principle, to determine the T, of each run by inserting the reference cell assembly into the adiabatic jacket in the adiabatic self-heating process recorder, prior to the insertion of the sample cell assembly into the jacket, in the adiabatic oxidatively-heating test performed by means of the cell assembly including either of the two kinds of open cells, i.e., the draft cell or the touch-flow cell, although it is indispensable to do so in the adiabatic oxidatively-heating test... [Pg.212]

For further details of the procedure to prepare the sample cell assembly including the draft cell, refer to Section 7.3. [Pg.218]

The sample cell assembly thus prepared is inserted into the adiabatic jacket set in the air bath of the adiabatic self-heating process recorder, and nitrogen gas is supplied into the draft cell at a flow rate of 2 cmVmin. [Pg.219]

The sample cell assembly is then left for 270 min at 110 °C in nitrogen gas flow to remove all the moisture from the substance. [Pg.219]

The sample cell is then combined concentrically and softly with the ground glass joint of the glass vent tube by raising the laboratory jack to construct the sample cell assembly in the meantime, the CA thermocouple, covered with a glass capillary tube, to measure the temperature of the oil-soaked adsorbent... [Pg.225]

In Section 8.3, after the sample cell assembly, which is inserted into the adiabatic jacket set in the air bath of the adiabatic self-heating process recorder, has been left for 270 min at 110 °C in nitrogen gas flow to remove all the moisture from the sawdust tested, the temperature of the air bath of the recorder is reset at the definite value of 7 , of 150 °C (the 7 , for the sawdust of red lauan 140 °C) in order to compare the rates of the oxidatively-heating reaction of the sawdusts of fifteen wood species with one another at the same temperature. On the other hand, in Subsection 8.4.1, after the sample cell assembly has been left for 270 min at 110 °C in nitrogen gas flow to remove all the moisture from the sawdust tested, the temperature of the air bath is reset at a proper value of 7 , on... [Pg.238]

The exact value of T, of the run is then determined as the arithmetic mean of a series of digital outputs of T, recorded for 2 d prior to the insertion of the sample cell assembly into the aluminium block bath. Fluctuations of the values of T, during this time are within 0.05 K. [Pg.301]

For the cleaning procedure performed for the sample cell assembly in which a chemical, which has solidified after the isothermal storage test, is confined, refer to a footnote in Subsection 10.2.5. [Pg.303]

The sample cell was constructed of Plexiglass which enclosed three sides of a rectangular box arrangement. The sample cell assembly was fitted with contacts which could be slid on and off the secondary voltage terminals. The two secondary voltage contacts were connected to two square aluminum electrodes with copper wire. The bottom electrode was 2" x 2" and secured to the bottom of the cell assembly. The upper electrode was 1" by 1" and contact was made with a spring loaded copper strip. In this fashion a sample may be placed between the electrodes and contact maintained by the spring, with minimal sample distortion. [Pg.422]
