Mills, P. Woods, R. (1984). The effect of polyacrylic acid, acetyl salicylic acid and salicylic acid on resistance of cucumber to Col-letotrichum lagenarium. Phytopathologische Zeitschrift 111, 209-16. [Pg.228]

Paracetamol metabolites, salicylic acid, and salicylic acid metabolites also elute from this system. Retention times relative to paracetamol for these substances in this system are ... [Pg.24]

Chen, Z., Iyer, S., Caplan, A., Klessig, D.R Pan, B. (1997). Differential acciunulation of salicylic acid and salicylic acid-sensitive catalase in different rice tissues. Plant Physiology, 114, 193-201. [Pg.193]

It should be emphasised that salicylic acid can be readily acetylated by Method 1, and that the above preparation of acetylsalicyclic acid is given solely as an illustration of Method 2. To employ Method 1, add 10 g. of salicylic acid to 20 ml. of a mixture of equal volumes of acetic anhydride and acetic acid, and boil gently under reflux for 30 minutes. Then pour into about 200 ml. of cold water in order to precipitate the acetylsalicylic acid (11 g.) and finally recrystallise as above. Method 2, however, gives the purer product. [Pg.111]

I. Methyl salicylate test. Heat i ml. of methanol with 0 5 g. of sodium sdicylate (or free salicylic acid) and a few drops of cone. H2SO4 gently for i minute. Cool, pour into a few ml. of cold water in a boiling-tube, and shake. Note the odour of methyl salicylate (oil of wintergreen). [Pg.337]

Place 10 g. of dry salicylic acid and 15 g. (14 ml.) of acetic anhydride in a small conical flask, add 5 drops of concentrated sulphuric acid, and rotate the flask in order to secure thorough mixing. Warm on a water bath to about 50-60°, stirring with the thermometer, for about 15 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool and stir occasionally. Add 150 ml. of water, stir well and filter at the pump. ReorystaUise the crude acetylsalicylic acid from a mixture of equal volumes of acetic acid and water. [Pg.996]

Wagner s solution (phosphate rock analysis) dissolve 25 g citric acid and 1 g salicylic acid in water, and make up to 1 liter. Twenty-five to fifty milliliters of this reagent prevents precipitation of iron and aluminum. [Pg.1198]

Many pharmaceutical compounds are weak acids or bases that can be analyzed by an aqueous or nonaqueous acid-base titration examples include salicylic acid, phenobarbital, caffeine, and sulfanilamide. Amino acids and proteins can be analyzed in glacial acetic acid, using HCIO4 as the titrant. For example, a procedure for determining the amount of nutritionally available protein has been developed that is based on an acid-base titration of lysine residues. ... [Pg.303]

Examples of the application of HPLC to the analysis of (a) acetaminophen, salicylic acid, and caffeine (b) chlorinated pesticides (c) tricyclic antidepressants and (d) peptides. (Chromatograms courtesy of Alltech Associates, Inc. Deerfield, IL). [Pg.587]

Students determine the concentrations of caffeine, acetaminophen, acetylsalicylic acid, and salicylic acid in several analgesic preparations using both CZE (70 mM borate buffer solution, UV detection at 210 nm) and HPLC (C18 column with 3% v/v acetic acid mixed with methanol as a mobile phase, UV detection at 254 nm). [Pg.614]
