Safety-related Electrotechnical Control Systems

A generic electrotechnical control system used in machinery and other applications is depicted in Fig. 13.1. This shows that at the heart of the system is the processing unit (often called a logic solver ), the subsystem that processes data and signals from input devices and sends signals to output devices. The processing unit may be implemented in a variety of [Pg.198]

The outputs from the processing unit will typically interface with electromechanical contactors, relays, variable speed drives, solenoid-operated pneumatic valves, and indicating light bulbs. [Pg.199]

The chapter describes the essential elements of electrotechnical safety-related control systems and identifies the principle CEN and CENELEC A  [Pg.199]
