Safety Audit Program

The steering committee members must be willing to thoroughly analyze findings and make recommendations for improvement. These findings would likely be presented to the committee by the safety department. There will likely be times when the committee and the safety department are not in full agreement. There will likely be times when trends that are analyzed bring forth no real recommendations for improvement. 

I believe, and many safety experts agree, that all accidents are preventable. This is a simple statement, and I do believe it is true however, there are times when the solution to prevention of the accident does not fall within the responsibility of the accident victim. I have been approached many times and continue to be asked about how to prevent vehicular accidents. 

A classic vehicle accident case where an audience does not believe that all accidents are preventable contains a scenario similar to the following A team member is sitting in a vehicle that is located at a toll booth or on the street and another vehicle hits the stopped vehicle from behind. Was this accident preventable My answer is, Yes, it was preventable. Even though I believe this accident was preventable, I also believe that it was highly unlikely that the person could have prevented this incident even using every defensive driving technique. The person who is most likely to prevent a recurrence of this type of accident was the person in the moving vehicle.
