Sacrificial MOFs

As shown in Fig. 2.19, the nan(x asting pathway is also powerful to produce nano-porous carbons with remaikably high surface areas (up to 4,000 m g ) and precisely controlled microporous structures (0.5-1.5 mn) that are well suitable for CO2 capture [97]. The efforts to construct such molecular-sieve-type porous carbon using well-crystalline zeolite or MOFs-related materials (ZIFs, MOCPs) as sacrificial templates still continue.

Composite oxides can also be obtained from MOFs, as reported by Zou et al. Fe -modified MOF-5 is used as a sacrificial template which, after refluxing and thermal annealing in N2, affords a hybrid ZnO/ZnFcaOVC porous nanocomposite with excellent electrochemical performance. Figure 8(a, b) shows the octahedral shape of the MOF-5 template... 

The Zr-based MOFs UiO-66 and UiO-66(NH2), first developed by LDlerud and coworkers [26], have also been reported for photocatalytic water reduction. In 2010, Garcia and coworkers reported hydrogen evolution catalyzed by the MOFs with a UV irradiation (>300 nm) and methanol as the sacrificial electron donor... 

MOFs can also be used as sacrificial materials to form, for example, microporous carbon or metal and... 

Liu s group from Argoime National Laboratory pioneered the use of MOF as a sacrificial precursor for preparing ORR catalysts. The original MOF structure was not preserved after the thermal activation above...
