There are about a dozen data bases specifically about plastics. Two of the best known and largest are Rapra Abstracts, issued by the Rubber and Plastics Research Association of Great Britain, with about 400000 entries, and the KKF data base of the Deutsche Kunstoff-Institut, with some 300000 records in 1993. Such data bases provide a huge source of information on all aspects of plastics, and considerable expertise is necessary to extract pertinent information efficiently.

Standards or specifications issued by individual companies are not considered to be of national status, however large or multi-national the concern might be. Specifications issued by local authorities and nationalised industries would be in the same bracket. Organizations such as Rapra Technology (The Rubber and Plastics Research Association), The British Rubber Manufacturers Association, the Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining do not issue standards.

The low-density polyethylene(IDPE) was obained from the Rubber and Plastic Research Association(RAPRA). The polyethylene was dissolved in a mixture of 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene and benzene-dg ( 4 1 ) at a concentration of 25%(w/v). The IDPE sanple was the sate as used in the previous work (16). The measurements ware made at a temperature of 120°C.

Rubber/Uniroyal [T8, T9, W25] and B. F. Goodrich independently came to realize the importance of stress relaxation behavior. Tlie B. F.
