Rotational tests

Test cell A rotating test ring is partially submersed into fuel stationary test ball with applied load is lowered onto rotating test ring. A test disk is immersed into fuel a vibrating test ball with an applied load is lowered onto the test disk. [Pg.166]

The details of procedure and expression of results are something of a compromise, being a compilation of the German approach and the British approach. Two procedures are specified, using a rotating or non-rotating test piece respectively. In principle, the abrasion should be more uniform if the test piece is rotated during test. The standard abradant is specified in terms... [Pg.235]

Either way of expressing results can be used with either rotating or nonrotating test pieces but, normally, only the German standard rubber would be used with relative volume loss. In previous versions, only the abrasion index approach had the option of using a rotating test piece. [Pg.236]

Rotation. Tests will be always done in the same rotation direction (clockwise or anticlockwise) according to the worm and worm-gear position. [Pg.41]

The mechanism of this instability may be rationalized as follows (see Fig. 3 for illustration). Let us consider an accidental counterclockwise rotating test vortex. It produces the perturbations of the ID concentration depicted as two colunms. The darker column is that with increased concentration, the lighter that with a decreased one. The interface concentration at y = 0 is zero. Thus, a tangential rightward drop of current density is created resulting in accordance with the nonequUibiium slip condition (11) in a positive slip velocity and thus a positive feedback, that is, destabilization. [Pg.912]

Finally, although it is of more academie than praetieal interest, the complicated modes of deformation that can occur in fibres are shown by some breaks in the biaxial rotation test with a high angle of wrap round the pins. This generates high torque forces and probably some heating. Bulbous zones of disorientation are formed and direct breaks occur in a few cycles in very curious forms. Fig. 13b,c. [Pg.71]

The rotating panel test is a dynamic test that is described in ASTM C874-99. In this test, samples are cut into shapes and are assembled in a rotating test furnace. These samples form the hot face lining. This kind of arrangement allows the corroding medium to flow over the surface of the material. This prevents the formation of a protective coating [5,6]. Therefore, corrosion will be more severe compared to static tests. [Pg.376]

Rotation resistance tests are conducted on mechanical saddles to meet the requirements of ASTM F 1924 section 6.2.2.3. Tests are conducted on six of the smallest size and six of the largest nominal pipe sizes. Rotation Test Torsion Load Requirements are 30 ft-lbf for 1 14 TPS and 50 ft-lbf for 2 IPS and larger saddles. The fittings are leak tested following torsion. Our experience has been that mechanical saddles for larger diameter pipe require higher torque loads to eause rotation. Sixty-six fittings have passed the rotation resistance test. [Pg.2439]
