Rotary pumps screw

Among rotary pumps, screw pump cost is the highest, and vane pump cost is the lowest. [Pg.33]

Rotary Axial Screw Blower and Vacuum Pumps... [Pg.522]

Rotary pumps forcibly transfer liquid through the action of rotating gears, lobes, vanes, screws etc, which operate inside a rigid container. Normally, pumping rates are varied by changing the rotational speed of the rotor. Rotary pumps do not require valves in order to operate. [Pg.159]

Fig. 9.4.10 Apparatus for the gas flow-arc plasma method. The apparatus is composed of two components. The upper part is a glass Dewar, which accumulates small particles in a cryogenic matrix on the trim cooled with liquid nitrogen (LN). Sorv, inlet of organic vapor Syr, syringe for transferring produced colloids under anaerobic conditions RP, rotary pump S, target sample. Lower part is for plasma discharge. A BN furnace has gas inlets (G) and is specially designed for Ar gas to flow in screwed stream hence the plasma is emitted in a jet flame due to a plasma pinch effect. The black parts are copper electrodes cooled by water. In order to maintain a constant spacing between the surface of sample and tbe upper electrode, the sample position can move vertically so that the current through the sample to the upper electrode is precisely controlled and constant. This is very important to produce powders with a narrow size distribution. Fig. 9.4.10 Apparatus for the gas flow-arc plasma method. The apparatus is composed of two components. In the other two ranges, the gear-type rotary pump has to enter into action. If the pump pushes the liquid in the same direction as the screw, the range A > 1 results. The conveying action of the screw machine is run over by the conveying action of the pump. In this operation, an excellent heat transfer between the housing and the liquid can be obtained (18). [Pg.41]

Rotary positive-displacement pumps with no valve action gear pumps, lobe pumps, screw pumps, eccentric-cam pumps, metering pumps... [Pg.515]

Consider the liquid properties when choosing the class and type of pump, because exceptionally severe conditions may rule out one or another class of pump at the start. Thus, screw- and gear-type rotary pumps are suitable for handling viscous, nonabrasive liquid (Table 6.24). When an abrasive liquid must be handled, either another class of pump or another type of rotary pump must be used. [Pg.216]

Related Calculations. Use this procedure for any type of rotary pump—gear, lobe, screw, swinging-vane, sliding-vane, or shuttle-block—handling any clear, viscous liquid. Where the liquid is gas-free, apply only the viscosity correction. Where the liquid viscosity is less than 600 SSU but the liquid contains gas or air, apply the entrained or dissolved gas correction, or both corrections. [Pg.234]

Another form of positive-acting rotary pump is the single-screw extruder pump typified by the Mono-piunp, illustrated in Figures 3.32 and 3.33. A specially shaped metal helical-rotor revolves eccentrically within a resilient rubber or plastic double-helix, thus creating a continuous forming cavity which progresses towards the discharge of the piunp. A continuous seal is created... [Pg.152]

Positive-displacement compressors, such as rotary lobe, screw type, or sliding-vane types, pump a relatively constant volume of vapor against whatever back pressure (resistance to heat transfer) is developed by the eveporator. The mass flow rate depends upon the inlet vapor density. Rotary lobe compressors are used for compression ratios up to about 2.0, the compression ratio being limited by mechanical and thermal distortion of small clearances inside the machine. The efficiency of positive-displacement compressors is between 60 and 75%. [Pg.189]

Rotary Pumps. Rotary pumps are characterized by a rotary movement types include screw, lobe, vane, and gear. Figures 5-16 and 5-17 illustrate rotary-type pumps. Rotary pumps displace liquid with gears, vanes, screws, or other rotating elements. The common thread between these two groups is the positive displacement action of the device. Centrifugal pumps are often mistakenly... [Pg.126]

There are many types of positive displacement rotary pumps, and they are normally grouped into three basic categories gear pumps, screw pumps, and moving vane pumps. [Pg.411]

There are many variations in the design of the screw-type positive displacement rotary pump. The primary differences consist of the number of intermeshing screws involved, the pitch of the screws, and the general direction of fluid flow, "hvo designs Include a two-screw, low-pitch double-flow pump, and a three-screw, high-pitch double-flow pump. [Pg.412]

Low capacity and high head can handle viscous fluids used to discharge bitumen (asphalt) in vacuum distillation columns. Combination of rotary motion and positive displacement used in gas pumps, screw pumps, and metering pumps. [Pg.84]

Rotary pump uses the rotating motian of gear, lobe, vane, or screw to compress liquid to a higher pressure. ni.2.2.1 Classification... [Pg.29]

Liquid in most rotary pump, except screw pump, follows the motion of the mtating element. For screw pump, liquid is moving axially. Most roteiy pump is sdf prune (provided it iswened), and can run dry fora short period of time. [Pg.32]
