Rigid envelope

When the test specimen, pressurized with helium, is placed in a rigid vacuum chamber, connected to a helium leak detector, the integral leak rate can be read directly at the leak detector. [Pg.123]

2 Envelope test with test specimen evacuated [Pg.123]

The use of a solid vacuum vessel as the rigid envelope, on the other hand, is better tor repetitive testing where an integral test is to be made. When solid envelopes are used it is also possible to recover the helium once the test has been completed. [Pg.123]

1 Envelope test — test specimen pressurized with helium [Pg.123]

To determine overall leakiness of a test object pressurized with helium the object shall be enclosed in an envelope vi/hich is either rigid or deformable (plastic). The test gas leaving the leaks accumulates so that the helium concentration in the envelope rises. Following an enrichment period to be [Pg.123]

The change is adynamic, i.e., no external work is performed. Thus, we may imagine the system enclosed in a perfectly rigid envelope which, however, permits the free passage of heat. Then ... [Pg.37]

Bacteria, fungi and plant cells are enclosed in a rigid envelope which protects the protoplast and which is called cell wall . The form and even the cell viability are dependent upon the cell wall . [Pg.187]

During the last 20 years, researchers (Fleet, 1991 Klis, 1994 Stratford, 1999 Klis et al, 2002) have greatly expanded our knowledge of the yeast cell wall, which represents 15-25% of the dry weight of the cell. It essentially consists of polysaccharides. It is a rigid envelope, yet endowed with a certain elasticity. [Pg.3]

Mounting configuration and operating envelope Industrial standards, such as the rathbone severity chart, assume that the machine is rigidly mounted on a suitable concrete foundation. Machines mounted on deck-plate or on flexible foundations have higher normal vibration profiles and cannot be evaluated using these standards. [Pg.719]

The ring templates can be further used to construct larger, multicyclic systems as illustrated in Fig. 7.8. For norbornane, two fitting conformahons of cyclopentane in the envelope conformation can be joined in order to construct the complete 3D structure of norbornane. In this case, this is the only low-energy conformahon known for norbornane due to its rigidity. [Pg.168]

For enveloped viruses such as the influenza viruses it has been shown that similar binding affinities are found for the hemagglutinin (HA) Hg-and sialic acid using either isolated HA or the whole virus [37,40] using simple H NMR titration experiments. In contrast to structural proteins of non-enveloped viruses, HA is a membrane protein and thus not as rigid as proteins as part of, e.g., icosahedral particles. For the application of STD NMR... [Pg.198]

We are thus able to reconstruct the Sun s whole career, from its nebulous birth, through its first nuclear reaction, right up to its last breath as a red giant. We may watch it swell up proudly as it burns its first helium, then throw its envelope off a hot, dense core, before the latter grows rigid, becoming a white dwarf, frozen in crystal. Wonders But let us recall the vast effort that went into this undertaking. [Pg.90]

Other things being equal, it appears that the stability of the complexes are higher the better the ligand can envelop the cation and replace its coordination shell. The results show that an optimal ligand should be fairly rigid and held in a conformation defining a spherical cavity. [Pg.50]

N cuum envelope tests are integral leak tests using helium as the test gas, in which the test specimen is enclosed either in a rigid (usually metal) enclosure or in a light plastic envelope. The helium which enters or leaves (depending on the nature of the test) the test specimen is passed to a helium leak detector, where it is measured. Envelope tests are made either with the test specimen pressurized w/ith helium (Fig. 5.4c) or with the test specimen evacuated (Fig. 5.4a). In both cases it may be necessary to convert the helium enrichment figure (accumulation) to the helium standard leak rate. [Pg.123]

As regards the sample, it is compulsory to use a treatment-resistant packaging, such as a plastic multi-layer envelope, or aluminium foil. When a rigid material (glass or metals) is preferred, a compressibility space must exist inside the packaging, otherwise the pressure is not transferred and the material could break. The container should be filled as much as possible, to reduce the empty space in order to minimize the stress imposed during the steps of pressurization and depressurization. [Pg.629]
