Patient position supine, with the head side-bent slightly toward the affected rib. 

Patient position supine, both knees bent, feet on table, hands on sides of the rib cage. 

Patient is supine, with knees flexed. The physician places one hand under the seventh to tenth ribs and one hand on top of the chondral junctions of the same ribs. The hands are compressed together and then released suddenly.
