Retouching paint

Eastman Kodak, started to develop celluloid film in 1889 and by 1920 the movie industry was dependant on the new material. However, cellulose nitrate s high flammability and ability to soften on heating were in conflict with its use as a film hase and alternatives were sought. Today, GN is mainly used as an adhesive, as inexpensive automotive retouching paints and nail lacquer, due to its high solubility in acetone. [Pg.24]

Following extensive testing, the urea/aldehyde resin Laropal A-81 has been introduced to create light-stable retouching paints (Leonard et al., 2000), and has been used as a varnish component (Arslanoglu and Learner, 2001) in combination with Paraloid B-72. [Pg.202]

Photoluminescence spectroscopy provides information on the composition of the painting surface and the presence of retouchings and overpainting. This technique has progressively evolved using laser sources, giving rise to laser-induced fluorescence (LIP) spectroscopy [35]. [Pg.20]

Chrome and stainless steel can only be blackened with epoxy paint. Get the best you can afford. Epoxy does chip off and must be retouched periodically. [Pg.5]

Fig. 9 Example of the combined use of LIBS and LIF for the examination of an oil painting (copy of Palma Vecchio s La Bella ). The detail image demonstrating the retouching of part of the painting has been obtained under UV illumination. The LIBS spectra demonstrate that the original painting is rich in lead and calcium pigments, whereas titanium white has been mainly employed in the retouched area... PC/PBT blends have their fit either in the unpainted grades meeting the retouch oven paint temperatures or in off-line painted applications. PBT/PC blends occasionally will meet the top coat online painted requirement when those do not exceed 14u C. In the years to come one expects that this chart will get more and laore crowded especially in the high ductility, upto 160 C heat area which will be sufficient as car industries develop the all plastic body car no longer requiring the -coat treatment. More new materials based on the here described polymer blends concept are obviously under development. [Pg.223]
