BOX 2.2 TAKING PERFORMANCE TO A NEW LEVEL THE RESPONSIBLE CARE GLOBAL CHARTER... 

In February 2006, The International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) launched the Responsible Care Global Charter and the Global Product Strategy (GPS), marking a renewal of the chemical industry s former commitment. 

Besides history of the sustainability concept, Chapter 1 brings up philosophical aspects of the relationship between man and nature and highlights the key sustainability initiatives of the chemical industry, i.e. The Responsible Care Global Charter and the 24 Principles of Green Chemistry and Green Engineering.

Supplier involvement the global purchasing team is responsible for ensuring that suppliers adhere to the Responsible Care ethic. The use of biannual written Responsible Care self-assessments and regular site assessments is discussed in the annual report, while the use of pre-charter checks is discussed in the CER as part of a strategy of ensuring H SE issues are addressed by barge operators.
