Residue logging

The residuals (log 1/C observed - log 1/C predicted) for the entire dataset were examined in detail for each key regression equation. Analysis of major residuals allowed not only perception of true "outliers but also provided insights for improving the model i.e., sharpening hypotheses and concepts.

The data gathered from the logs and cores of the development wells are used to refine the correlation, and better understand areal and vertical changes in the reservoir quality. Core material may also be used to support log data in determining the residual hydrocarbon saturation left behind in a swept zone (e.g. the residual oil saturation to water flooding). 

Production and consumption of wood products and residues are measured ia various units, based on common usage and their metric equivalents (2—4). Pulpwood logs and fuelwood are commonly measured ia cords. A cord refers to a stacked pile of wood, with outside dimensions of 4 by 4 by 8 ft (1.22 by 1.22 by 2.44 m) and a volume of 128 ft (3.62 m ). The weight of a cord depends on density of wood and bark and on moisture content. In the United States, it can range from 1.3 to 1.7 short tons (1.2 to 1.5 metric tons), air dried. 

To a stirred solution consisting of 5 g (9.45 mmoles) 3, 17) -dibenzoyloxy-5a-androst-7-en-6a-ol in a mixture of 150 ml of dry ether and 150 ml of glyme is added lOg (0.16 moles) of zinc-copper couple and 26.7 (8 ml, 0.1 moles) methylene iodide. The mixture is heated under reflux for 4 hr, cooled to room temperature, diluted with 200 ml of ether and filtered. The filtrate is washed with a saturated solution of sodium chloride and water, and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The ether is removed under reduced pressure and the residue is crystallized from acetone-hexane to yield 4.4 g (86%) of 3, 17 -dibenzoyloxy-7a,8a-methylen-5a,8a-androstan-6a-ol mp 166-167° [ ]d -62° (CHCI3).
