Rehabilitation research and training centers

Description of the Program. Rehabilitation research and training centers (rrtcs) are a key program category supported by nidrr. The rrtcs, which were first legislatively mandated in 1973, are expected to conduct synergistic research.

The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), part of the Department of Education, funds a set of Rehabilitation Engineering Research Centers (RERCs) and Research and Training Centers (RTCs). Each has a particular technical focus most include measurements and measurement issues. Contact NIDRR for a current listing of these centers. 

Wildlife Rehabilitation. The care of sick, injured, or orphaned wildlife provides career opportunities at wildhfe-rehabihtation centers, zoos, veterinary clinics, theme parks, animal shelters, and research centers. Sometimes this requires problem- or species-specific training and can require advanced education as a veterinarian or radiologist, or other medical specialty. In addition to career opportunities, wildlife rehabilitation provides a great deal of opportunity for volunteer efforts and internships that can provide training for individuals potentially interested in a wildlife-conservation career.
