Regulatory outlook

This book provides an insider s perspective of the status of the fine-chemical industry, as well as its outlook. It covers all aspects of this dynamic industry, with all of its stakeholders in mind, viz. employees, customers, suppliers, investors, students and educators, media representatives, neighboring communities, public officials, and anyone else who has an interest in industrial context. Safety, health, environmental, and regulatory issues are discussed only briefly, as the related subjects are extensively covered in the specialized literature.

Part 4 considers loss of regulatory control and its consequences with respect to the molecular basis of cancer. It first describes the cellular regulatory proteins that have oncogenic potential, how they can become oncogenic and cause the transformation of normal cells to cancerous cells. Next is an analysis of the loss of developmental controls, the APC protein, (3-catenin, and the Wnt pathway, that lead to mature terminally differentiated cells reverting to immature embryonic cells. The book ends with a summary of the molecular and cellular causes of cancer and an outlook for novel therapies.

A future outlook of the CPSSC field envisions a wide acceptance of CPSSC support of NDA submissions by all regulatory agencies.
