Region identical

The nation-state approach, therefore, perceives the world as a combination of the real and potential one-to-one correspondence of states and nations. Canovan and Gellner would agree that a regional structure that has several nations within it will either become a new nation-state or will fall apart to form several nation-states, to which it may remain a supranational structure that coordinates interstate matters or takes over some of the functions of each state without significant changes to the state. If a regional structure like the European Union, for example, creates a regional identity, it comes to replace the nation-states that initially composed it. Until this happens, the constitutive states remain nations united by a supranational structure. [Pg.77]

The aromaticity factor (ratio of the number of aromatic carbons to the total number of carbons), identical to that given by the ndM method or the Brandes method in the infrared region. [Pg.66]

As pointed out in Section XVII-8, agreement of a theoretical isotherm equation with data at one temperature is a necessary but quite insufficient test of the validity of the premises on which it was derived. Quite differently based models may yield equations that are experimentally indistinguishable and even algebraically identical. In the multilayer region, it turns out that in a number of cases the isotherm shape is relatively independent of the nature of the solid and that any equation fitting it can be used to obtain essentially the same relative surface areas for different solids, so that consistency of surface area determination does not provide a sensitive criterion either. [Pg.652]

In the pseiidopotential construction, the atomic wavefrmctions for the valence electrons are taken to be nodeless. The pseiido-wavefrmction is taken to be identical to the appropriate all-electron wavefimction m the regions of interest for solid-state effects. For the core region, the wavefimction is extrapolated back to the... [Pg.110]

In other words, the non-adiabatic coupling terms between P and Q states are all assumed to be zero. These requirements will later be reconsidered for a relaxed situation where these coupling terms are assumed to be not necessarily identically zero but small, that is, of the order s in regions of interest. [Pg.641]

The mixed models used m MXDO. AMI, and PM3. are identical, because all of these three methods are derived based on XDDO. The core Hamiltonian correction due it) the in teraction of the charges between lhec uantnin mechanical region and theclassical region is... [Pg.292]

A sequence alignment establishes the correspondences between the amino adds in th unknown protein and the template protein (or proteins) from wliich it will be built. Th three-dimensional structures of two or more related proteins are conveniently divided int structurally conserved regions (SCRs) and structurally variable regions (SVRs). Ihe structural conserved regions correspond to those stretches of maximum sequence identity or sequenc... [Pg.555]

SCR (structurally conserved regions) sections of a biopolymer sequence that are identical to that of another sequence, for which there is a known three-dimensional structure... [Pg.368]

Fingerprint region (Section 13 20) The region 1400-625 cm of an infrared spectrum This region is less character istic of functional groups than others but varies so much from one molecule to another that it can be used to deter mine whether two substances are identical or not Fischer esterification (Sections 15 8 and 19 14) Acid cat alyzed ester formation between an alcohol and a carboxylic acid... [Pg.1283]
