Recycling analyzing materials

Reagents and Materials. Light recycle oil (LRO) and Western Kentucky 9/14 coal were obtained from the Wilsonville SRC Pilot Plant, operated by Southern Company Services, Inc. The LRO contains 0.26% sulfur, and the Western Kentucky 9/14 coal is analyzed to be 67% C, 4.9% H, 3.10% S, and 12% mineral matter. The coal was dried overnight at 100°C and 25 inches Hg vacuum before use. 

Recycle is a common feature of chemical processes. Its most common use is to send unused raw materials emerging from a process unit back to the unit. Overall system balances are usually (but not always) convenient starting points for analyzing process with recycle. A purge stream is withdrawn from a process when a species enters in the process feed and is completely recycled. If this species were not removed in the purge, it would keep accumulating in the process system and eventually lead to shutdown. 

Problems on recycled wood when used as a raw material in PB production were analyzed according to the questionnaire survey from the eleven makers. Problems can be classified into eight items, and the results of the importance calculated numerically with some assumptions are shown in Figure 4. 

Chromatography. Materials extracted from the recycle cup deposit using a proprietary technique provide insight as to the organic molecules that contribute to fouling. GC/MS and LC/UV spectroscopy were used to analyze the extracts.
