RECTANGULAR COMPOSITE SURFACE

RECTANGULAIC TRIMMED SURFACE, RECTANGULAR COMPOSITE SURFACE, OFFSET SURFACE ) ... [Pg.79]

This is a composite surface having a simple rectangular topology with n u patches in u direction and n v patches in v direction. Each composite surface must be bounded and topological rectangular and therefore be either a B SPLINE SURFACE or a RECTANGULAR TRIMMED SURFACE. It is required that there is at least positional continuity between the adjacent patches. [Pg.91]

A rectangular section beam of solid polypropylene is 12 mm wide, 8 mm deep and 300 mm long. If a foamed core polypropylene beam, with a 2 mm solid skin on the upper and lower surfaces only, is to be made the same width, length and weight estimate the depth of the composite beam and state the ratio of the stiffness of the two beams, (p = 909 kg/m, p = 500 kg/m ). [Pg.162]

Despite all simplifications the model of particle in the rectangular potential well, extended to include the population of excited le els. describes quite well the dependence of ortho-positronium lifetime on the pore radius. In this model the o-Ps lifetime is ruled entirely by geometrical factors, however, maybe the chemical composition of the medium should be taken into account. The lifetime vs. average radius dependence is particularly steep below 5 nm. and in this range the positron annihilation method can be useful for determination of average pore radii. The specific surface determines the distribution of o-Ps between small voids in the bulk and pores. [Pg.563]

Both systems operate on similar principles. A tungsten filament emits electrons, which are focused by an electron optical system. The electron beam can scan the sample surface and can provide composition at a point, along a line or over a rectangular area, by rastering the beam across the surface in a series of parallel lines. The sample is mounted on a stage that can be accurately moved in the x and y directions and in the z direction, normal to the plane of the sample. The system has an optical microscope, to permit alignment of the sample and selection of the area or feature of the sample to be analyzed. [Pg.593]

Water uptake is usually used to study the humidity diffusion through the composite films. To determine the water uptake [92, 94, 95], the composite films used were thin rectangular strips with dimensions of 10 mm x 10 mm x 0.2 mm. Ihe films were supposed to be thin enough so that the molecular diffusion was considered to be onedimensional and were vacuum-dried at 90°C overnight After weighing, they were conditioned at 25°C in a desiccator containing sodium sulfate in order to ensure a relative humidity (RH) of 95%. They were then removed at specific intervals and gently blotted with tissue paper to remove the excess of water on the surface, and the water uptake was calculated with Eq. 1, as follows ... [Pg.137]
