Recent Developments in Electrospinning

There are various methods to synthesize polymer nanostructures, i.e., template synthesis, chiral reactions, self-assembly, interfacial polymerization and electrospinning. Recent developments in conducting polymer nanotubes and nanofibers were summarized by Long et al. Different preparation methods, physical properties, and potential applications of one-dimensional nanostructures of conjugated polyaniline (PANI), pol5 3nrole (PPy) and poly (3, 4-ethylenediox3d hiophene) (PEDOT) were discussed. [Pg.215]

Timely recent developments in melt electrospinning make it possible to potentially fabricate fibrous webs and networks with precise fibre diameters and patterning and thus provide fibrous architectures for cell integration and re-assembly into organized tissue. Our innovative approach is to use polysaccharides in the fibre composition to deliver useful encapsulates and form better biological associations than currently used polymers. We therefore propose to use melt electrospun... [Pg.835]

Novel SPCs will be produced by combining new methods e.g., electrospinning of fibers) with well established ones e.g., film stacking). Microfibrillar and nanofibrillar SPCs, recently developed by Fakirov et at [19,20,70-75], may be of great, practical relevance. In addition to their excellent mechanical performance, they represent an attractive way to achieve a nniform nanoscale dispersion of the reinforcing constituent. [Pg.694]

In recent years, we have witnessed a growing development of the electrospinning of transition metal oxide with and without lithium processing different phases as cathodes for lithium-ion batteries. In the following section, recent advances in the area of electrospun cathodes for lithium-ion batteries are described and summarized (Table 3.2). [Pg.78]
