Real image

The distortion model (equations 3) describes the mapping of virtual, undistorted image points Pi = xi,yiY to distorted image points P = (i , y Y the real image using third order (2-dimensional) polynomals. 

The real image is seen by the eye as a virtual image at 25 cm distance, the nomial distance for distinct vision. 

The magnification is rather chosen to be about 500 to 1000 where is the numerical aperture of the objective (see the next section) The eyepiece is then necessary to magnify the real image so that it can conveniently be inspected.

The most commonly employed method for measuring bacteria is by means of an ocular micrometer. Measurements may also be made by using a camera-lucida attachment and drawing oculars, or by projecting the real image on a screen and measuring the bacteria. 

The compound microscope is essentially a two-stage magnifier. One lens (or combination of lenses), termed the objective, forms a real image of an illuminated or self-luminous object, and a second lens (or combination of lenses), denoted as the eyepiece, acts as a simple magnifier whose object is the real image formed... 

A debate on whether structure or function is the most relevant approach in the monitoring of river ecosystems or in the definition of the ecological state should be undertaken. The two aspects of the ecosystem are completely intertwined and as such one is feeding the outcome of the other and vice versa (Fig. 10). In practical terms, both approaches need to be considered to obtain a real image of the response...

TEM can provide surface information for carefully prepared and oriented bulk samples. Real images have been formed of the edges of crystals where surface planes and surface diffusions have been observed. Diffraction patterns of reconstructed surfaces, superimposed on the bulk diffraction pattern, have also provided surface structural information.
