Reactions Storage

Handling and Storage. Cyanamide solution dimerizes to dicyandiamide and urea with the evolution of heat and a gradual increase in alkalinity accelerating the reaction. Storage above 30°C without pH stabilizer leads to excessive dimerization and can result in violent exothermic polymerization. Cyanamide should be stored under refrigeration and the pH tested periodically. Stabilized cyanamide can be kept at ambient temperature for a few weeks. [Pg.370]

Organic catalysts are generally insensitive to the oxygen and moisture in our natural atmosphere and, as such, do not require the use of air- and moisture-free reaction/storage vessels, inert-gas atmospheres, and moisture-free reagents/sol vents. [Pg.314]

Alkali metals. The principal hazards involved are l)explosions or fire resulting from contact with water, chlorinated hydrocarbons, or other reactive agents 2)fires resulting from exposure to air 3)personnel injury from direct contact with hot alkali metals and 4)caustic soda burns from the residue of a Na-H20 reaction. Storage areas must be dry. Protective clothing must be worn (Ref 105)... [Pg.428]

By 1986, when we were ready to buy chemical structure software, there was a number of systems on offer. A year earlier the position might have been very different. The main contenders were MACCS, DARC and OSAC, a program derived from the reaction storage and searching program, ORAC. In addition, HTSS and SABRE were of interest although we had doubts about their state of development at the time. [Pg.55]

Recent developments are generic (Markush) structure storage and retrieval, reaction storage and retrieval, three-dimensional structure searches, and various extensions of documentation in molecular biology. [Pg.10]
