REACH RESTRICTION SYSTEM

Following evaluations under REACH, the nine chemicals listed below would fall directly under the REACH restriction system. Authorisation would not be necessary because many (non-restricted) uses do not result in risks to local environmental compartments or contribute significantly to overall environmental concentrations. [Pg.249]

It also has a high first-pass metabolism so little reaches the systemic circulation, and at the restricted dosage permitted for non-prescription use it is unlikely to cause any of the side-effects associated with opiates. [Pg.78]

An assembly of components and subsystems, including the necessary connectors, used to (a) stabilize and partially support the user at an elevated work location and allow free use of both hands. This type of restraint system is referred to as a work positioning system or, simply, a positioning system (b) restrict the user s motion so as to prevent reaching a location where a fall hazard exists. This type of restraint system is referred to as a travel restriction system. [Pg.247]

Quantum mechanical calculations are restricted to systems with relatively small numbers of atoms, and so storing the Hessian matrix is not a problem. As the energy calculation is often the most time-consuming part of the calculation, it is desirable that the minimisation method chosen takes as few steps as possible to reach the minimum. For many levels of quantum mechanics theory analytical first derivatives are available. However, analytical second derivatives are only available for a few levels of theory and can be expensive to compute. The quasi-Newton methods are thus particularly popular for quantum mechanical calculations. [Pg.289]

Sonic velocity will be established at a restricted point in the pipe, or at the outlet, if the pressure drop is great enough to establish the required velocity. Once the sonic velocity has been reached, the pressure drop in the system will not increase, as the velocity will remain at this value even though the fluid may be discharging into a vessel at a lower pressure than that existing at the point where sonic velocity is established. [Pg.108]

Predictability. Exponential divergence of orbits places a severe restriction on the predictability of the system. If the initial point xq is known only to within an error 6xq, for example, we know that this error will grow to 6xn = exp nln2 (5a o (mod 1) by the iteration. The relaxation time, Tr, to a statistical equilibrium - defined as the number of iterations required before we reach a state of total ignorance as to the location of the orbit point within the unit interval [0,1] i.e., Tr = min (n) such that 6xn 1 - is therefore given by... [Pg.175]

The dynamics of any molecular system could in principle be calculated by considering all the acting intermolecular and intramolecular forces by means of interatomic potentials as a function of distance. Such precise modelling is, obviously, beyond our reach at present and different levels of approximation were imagined to mimic the behavior of a real macromolecule while restricting the number of degrees of freedom to within computational limits. One successful... [Pg.87]

The use of chlorine dioxide in water systems results in its reduction to chlorite and chloride. In the UK the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) restricts the use of chlorine dioxide in potable water supplies to a maximum of 0.5ppm total oxidants expressed as chlorine dioxide. This ensures that chlorite (and any chlorate) concentrations do not reach levels of potential harm to humans. [Pg.34]

The use of fundamental parameters is attractive for various reasons. They impose fewer restrictions on the number of standards required for analysis. This simplifies the standardisation protocol for maintaining a XRF system, and permits greater flexibility in dealing with different types of materials. Inten-sity/concentration algorithms of the fundamental type, i.e. without recourse to the use of standards, have gradually developed [238-240] and are now widely available [241]. Functionality and quality of XRF software have reached a very high level, with a large variety of evaluation procedures and correction models for quantitative analysis, and calculation of fundamental parameter coefficients for effective matrix corrections. Nevertheless, there is still a need for accuracy improvement of fundamental parameters, such as the attenuation functions. [Pg.633]

The use of weakly coordinating and fluorinated anions such as B(C6H4F-4)4, B(C6F5)4, and MeB(C6F5)3 further enhanced the activities of Group 4 cationic complexes for the polymerization of olefins and thereby their activity reached a level comparable to those of MAO-activated metallocene catalysts. Base-free cationic metal alkyl complexes and catalytic studies on them had mainly been concerned with cationic methyl complexes, [Cp2M-Me] +. However, their thermal instability restricts the use of such systems at technically useful temperatures. The corresponding thermally more stable benzyl complexes,... [Pg.14]
