Rats, Sherman Wistar

Dermal LDso values suggest that, irrespective of strain, female rats are more sensitive than male rats when disulfoton is administered dermally. The dermal LDso for disulfoton was determined to be 15.9 and 3.6 mg/kg in male and female Wistar rats, respectively (Mihail 1978). In Sherman rats, the dermal LDso was determined to be 15 and 6 mg/kg in males and females, respectively (Gaines 1969). In male Sprague-Dawley rats, the dermal LDso was determined to be 20 mg/kg (DuBois 1957). A dermal LDso value of 0.285 mL/kg (187 mg/kg) was reported for rats given a liquid formulation... [Pg.81]

Hepatic effects have been observed in animals exposed orally to 2-butoxyethanol. Mottled livers were observed in Wistar, Sherman, and Carworth-Wistar rats that died after receiving 530 mg/kg by gavage (Carpenter et al. 1956). Young (4-5 weeks) and adult (9-13 weeks) Fischer 344 rats were dosed with 0,... [Pg.124]

All the commonly used vegetable oils when fed at 40 calorie % (or 20% by weight) of the diet increased the incidence of myocardial lesions in male albino rats (e.g., Sprague-Dawley, Wistar, and Sherman). The lowest incidence of heart lesions is found when, instead of a single oil, a 3/1 mixture of lard and corn oil was fed (11%). The mean lesion incidence observed for the different oils were soybean, 36% sunflower, 49% corn, 30% peanut, 37% olive, 38% and safflower, 37%. [Pg.469]
