Raman nitrogen dioxide

The Raman spectrum of quenched products (Fig. 7) consists of the symmetric stretching of excess P-O2 at 1585 cm, two Fermi-resonance bands of CO2 at 1270 and 1400 cm", and three new additional sharp bands at 734, 1079, and 2242 cm". The systematic of the latter three bands are very similar to those of nitrosonium nitrate N0" N03", an ionic dimer of nitrogen dioxide. This similarity suggests that the products also include a species with carbonates and carbosonium, CO COa ". The vibrations of carbonate ions appear at 713 and 1082 cm" in CaCOs [84], and the CO vibration appears about 2150 cm" at 5 GPa [85]. Electronic structure calculations for [86, 87] suggest that there are several low lying states of CO " ", whose vibrational frequencies vary between 1000 and 2000 cm". The yield of... 

The rotational dynamics of nitrogen and carbon dioxide were recorded by Akhmanov and Koroteev [7]. The transients look similar to the transients by Morgen et al. [8], recorded with time resolved Raman induced polarization spectroscopy [9]. A fs-DFWM experiment was performed by Frey et al. [10] on diatomics and linear polyatomics. To prevent collisional dephasing, they transferred the method into the expansion zone of a molecular beam. In succession, experiments on linear molecules and symmetric tops were performed on molecules like CHCI3 [11] and CgHf, [12], Transients of asymmetric tops like the near oblate pyrimidine, pyrazine and pyridine [13] and SO2 [11] were reported in the following years. 

Prior to the use of Raman spectroscopy, changes in the Wobbe Index required a measurement time of 32 sec. This imposed on the production facility the need to retain an enormous amount of gas in pipes while its quality is determined and the corrective addition of gaseous nitrogen and carbon dioxide occurs.
