Quinoline anilines

Nitrogenous organic components such as toluidine, quinoline, aniline, etc. all act as inhibitors to the anodic reaction between metal and acid and thereby favour the cathodic reaction and accelerate the process. 

Ethyl linoleate is prepared by debromination of the tetra-bromide by action of zinc, or nascent hydrogen from zinc and glacial acetic acid 3 by zinc and alcoholic-hydrochloric acid 2, 4 and by zinc and alcoholic-sulfuric acid.5 The pure acid can be obtained by saponification of the ester, and directly by action of zinc and pyridine (quinoline, aniline, piperidine) on tetrabromo-stearic acid.6... 

Commonly used aromatic frothers are phenols, cresols, pyridines. These are mixtures of various methylphenols, naphthols, quinolines, anilines, naphthalene, amines, etc. extracted from coal tars. These frothers have been widely used in the flotation of coal. Apart from the frothability, these reagents have certain ability as collector especially with the increase in their molecular size. 

Aromatic 0-hydroxy carboxylic acids behave very similarly to fi-oxo carboxylic acids they sometimes lose carbon dioxide when merely boiled with water, but this is a general reaction when they are heated with pyridine, quinoline, aniline, or dimethylaniline. This behavior can certainly be ascribed to reaction of aromatic 0-hydroxy acids as the keto tautomer ...

Bhattacharya and Dhar have recently described adducts of bases like pyridine, 2-, 3- and 4-methylpyridine, 2,4- and 2,6-butadienes, quinoline, aniline and piperidine with hydroxamic acids (R CONROH, where R = Ph, o-MeQH4, 0-NO2QH4, 0-CIQH4 R = Ph, o-MeQH4), investigating the effect of steric factors, electronic effects, base strength and concentration in the stabilization of the adducts.

The same reactions are also catalyzed by Ru-TPPMS or Ru-TPPTS catalysts however, under comparable conditions, rather low activity (TOF 2.5 h ) was observed. Addition of nitrogen bases (quinoline, aniline) resulted in significantly increased reaction rates.
