Quick reference cards

The main operational steps are available consultation of the manual of the instrument (Applied Biosystems 3130 Genetic Analyzer Getting Started Guide—http //www.baylor.edu/ content/services/document.php/186486.pdf). In addition to the operator in the vicinity of the instrument is necessary that there is a Quick Reference Card provided by the manufacturer and a summary diagram of the Standard Operative Procedures SOP provided by the laboratory. 

Quick Reference Cards—Quick reference cards may include wallet or pocket size cards that include information such as alarms, phone numbers, assembly points, main shutoffs, or emergency actions. These cards should be easy to read and should address specific conditions and actions. As with any procedure, the cards must be controlled to ensure that the information is accurate and up to date. 

If placards, posted instructions, quick reference cards, or booklets are used, the instructions must not conflict with other appUcable written procedures. These instmctions must be controlled in the same manner as written procedures. 

Improvement Item Recovery plan not formally documented in a written plan. Reimbursement needs should be included in recovery plan (supplies, hours, equipment, etc.). Utilization of business cards or other quick reference needed to assist in identifying major players involved in recovery planning. Recovery plan should include animal con-trol/consideration of animal welfare. 

Because of the number of standards in the PDF, it is not possible, in general, to search each entry individually. However, in many situations the analyst either knows or can make an educated guess as to the probable identity of the unknown. In this intuitive case, the PDF can be consulted directly and the cards for the suspected compounds can be consulted quickly. In fact, when a specific phase diagram is being investigated it is common practice to obtain powder diffraction patterns of all known phases in the system. If the 20 axis of these "reference" patterns is the same as that for unknown patterns, an unknown pattern can be compared directly to these relatively few standards on an illuminated viewing table and the diffraction lines from the known phases can be identified on the unknown pattern. As new phases are discovered and identified, their patterns may then be added to this reference file.
