Query engines

Starting at the RCSB home page, one can retrieve three-dimensional structures using two different query engines. The SearchLite system is the one most often used.

Most clinical data management systems used for clinical trials today store their data in relational database software such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server. A relational database is composed of a set of rectangular data matrices called tables that relate or associate with one another by certain key fields. The language most often used to work with relational databases is structured query language (SQL). To summarize, science-based learning environments use storyboarding of topics not as a means in itself instead, they address the subject matter via the predictive power of an underlying general engine. As tools that generate real data and with the ability to handle unscripted queries, science-based software environments provide a 2151 century version of the laboratory experience. 

Since each search engine indexes somewhat differently and offers somewhat different ways of searching, it is a good idea to use several different search engines, especially for a general query. 

Several metasearch programs automate the process of submitting a query to multiple search engines. These include Metacrawler at http //www. metacrawler.com and SurfWax at http //www.surfwax.com./ Note that metasearch engines tend to have two drawbacks They may overwhelm you with results (and insufficiently prune duplicates), and they often do not use some of the more popular search engines (such as Google or Northern Light).
