The present chapter is supplementary to the reviews mentioned above, and will therefore avoid fundamental aspects of the analytical methods. It will deal briefly with some advancements of analytical methods that appeared in the last few years, it will consider new possible schemes for derivatising the functional groups both as organic compounds and as complexes with transition metals and will list compounds that have found application in industry, as many pertinent analytical methods have been developed for quality control, occupational safety and monitoring of environmental problems. 

Industry specifications and standards are continually updated to aid processors in controlling quality and to meet safety requirements, and they are very useful to anyone who must choose tests and QC procedures.
