Public Utility Holding Company Act

Stat. 803 (1935). The Act was only repealed in 2005 by the Energy Policy Act (EPACT) of 2005 (Section 1263), which replaced it with the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 2005, which provides for federal access to books and records of holding companies and their affiliates. 

Restructuring - The process of changing the structure of the electric power industry from one of guaranteed monopoly over service territories, as established by the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 1935, to one of open competition between power suppliers for customers in any area.
