Proportional systems

The balanced pressure proportioning system is ideal for large systems, concentrate requirements exceeding 1,000 gal (3,800 I), and for most mobile foam apparatus. [Pg.211]

Water is allowed to enter the foam tank from the main stream with as little friction loss as possible, while pressure in the main stream is dropped about 10% through use of an orifice. Liquid in the tank is metered into the low pressure area by a second orifice. The pressure proportioning system offers the advantages of low pressure drop, automatic proportioning over a range of flows and pressures, freedom from external power and the absence of moving parts. Its disadvantages are that the concentrate cannot be resupplied while the system is in operation, the bladders tend to leak and there is an economic maximum limit on size. [Pg.212]

Proportioning system test—The flow should ensure that the foam concentrate injected into the system is within the design specification. [Pg.341]

Not all chemical species obey the law of definite proportions. Systems which obey the law, i.e., those which have fixed ratios of... [Pg.22]

The proportioning systems and burners are so designed that pressures of about 0.5 inch of water may be used with coke oven gas high in hydrogen, or 0.2 inch water with natural gas having a lower rate of flame propagation. [Pg.300]

An extrusion system consists of several important subsystems (i) a feed delivery and proportioning system (ii) a preconditioning area, which enables the raw materials to equilibrate in moisture content and heat (iii) the cooking extruder itself (iv) a laminar-flow area or die that allows aligning of molecules to occur (v) a die and cutter to shape and cut the product into pieces and (vi) a dryer/cooler to reduce moisture in the final product to a microbiologically stable level. [Pg.713]

The dosing pump/vaporizer technique is essentially easier to handle and in many cases suitable for multicomponent gas mixtures. Here the liquid with a definite flow rate is metered into a system, analog to the proportioning system for the generation of calibration gases (see Figure 16-7). The substance is vaporized in the system and simultaneously mixed with the pro-... [Pg.162]

C) True Isothermal (i.e. both in space and in time) or extended isothermal (i.e. only isothermal in space) calorimeters Tq follows Ts these are proportional systems and include phase-change, power-compensation and heat-flowmeter calorimeters. [Pg.44]

The proportioning system of aggregates, bitumen emulsion and water (if required) is independent on the travelling speed. The quantity of aggregate delivered to the mixer is determined by the opening height of the floodgates, while emulsion and water quantities are measured by flow meters. [Pg.307]

This problem can be avoided by using a zero-crossover-fired power controller. This is a time-proportioning system controlled by the temperature controller. Being zero-voltage fired, this controller s circuit is free of RF noise. In other words, the switching occurs when no voltage is on the line. [Pg.126]

In this connection, it should be mentioned that the use of system cleaners can under certain circumstances make the demulsification of old emulsions more difficult. In the case of solutions that are still relatively fresh, i.e. containing an unused emulsifier proportion, system cleaners bring a markedly increased level of surfactant. [Pg.205]

Separation of typical anthocyanins is carried out on cellulose layers in three solvent systems which all contain cone, hydrochloric acid, formic acid, and water in different proportions System 1 (19 19 62), system 2 (7 51 42), and system 3 (25 24 51). The mobile phase is run 18 cm (ca. 120 min.), and the 1 values of the individual compounds are given in Table 4. [Pg.726]

Pellets can be blended in either barrels cr an automated mixing system such as the two-screw proportioning systems. Blending should take only 2-3 min. Overblending can cause reduced material properties as a result of glass fiber breakage. [Pg.272]
