Properties Mossbauer parameters

A CD-ROM is attached containing a teaching course of Mossbauer spectroscopy (ca. 300 ppt frames), a selection of examples of applications of Mossbauer spectroscopy in various fields (ca. 500 ppt frames), review articles on computation and interpretation of Mossbauer parameters using modem quantum-mechanical methods, list of properties of isotopes relevant to Mossbauer spectroscopy, appendices refering to book chapters, and the first edition of this book which appeared in 1978. The magnetic properties of deoxyHr indicate that a bridge between the iron centers persists but may be altered from that in oxyHr. The NMR spectrum of deoxyHr exhibits large isotropic shifts for the N-H s on histidines coordinated to the binuclear unit. Mossbauer parameters of deoxyHr (Table II) are typical of high spin iron(II) centers which are at best weakly coupled (37,38,39). Room temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements using the Evans NMR technique... 

One interesting reaction undergone by the tri(styryl)arsine complexes is the bromination of the C=C bond by bromine in CC14 (equation 217).1013 Similar behavior970 is exhibited by the few tertiary stibine complexes (Table 75) that have been isolated. Few physical properties of these complexes have been investigated, but the 121 Sb Mossbauer parameters for both rhodium(III) complexes and the free ligands have been determined.1016... 

There are reports of the use of iron species as probes (chemisorbed species) to characterize supports and their adsorption properties. Burger et al. (200) used Mossbauer spectroscopy to characterize submicroscopic droplets of Sn(IV) and Fe(III) complexes carried in an alkane/naphthalene mixture. The analysis of the Mossbauer parameters gave a qualitative picture regarding the solution structure inside the pores and the adsorption and wetting properties of the solid. 

Christie et al. (53) reported data on the catalytic performance which may also be related to the solid state properties of tin-antimony oxide. A material containing 6% antimony in a batch reactor showed maximized specific activity and low selectivity toward propylene. Above 10% antimony the selectivities exceeded 60% and increased little with increasing antimony content. It is interesting that the " Sn Mossbauer parameters (17) showed similar trends, which were attributed to effects in the solid solution.

Magnetic dipole interaction between the nuclear magnetic dipole moment and a magnetic field at the nucleus. The observable Mossbauer parameter is the magnetic splitting AEm . This quantity gives information on the magnetic properties of the material under study.
