Adlerol, i.e. l-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-hydroxy-2-(2-methoxyphenoxy)propan-l-ol, is a well-established dimeric model compound of lignin and, as such, its oxidation to the ketone-derivative Adlerone, i.e. l-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-hydroxy-2-(2-methoxyphen-oxy)propan-l-one, has been taken as a benchmark reaction (Scheme 20) to evaluate the efficiency of several chemo-enzymatic procedures. 

Fuel flexibility of the fuel reforming subsystem was demonstrated using methane, propane, butane, methanol, ethanol, isooctane, and benchmark gasoline. A 1000-hour catalyst and reactor durability test was completed using benchmark gasoline. Warm transient response of less than 5 seconds was achieved for 10 to 90% of full reformer capacity. A three-fold increase in reformer productivity was achieved compared to the previous year, due to improved catalyst performance and more uniform flow within the reactor. Reactor concepts that would meet FreedomCAR s rapid start-up targets were developed. 

In the draft ruling, the U.S. EPA summcirized the toxicity information on isopropyl-bromide and another similcu ly structured chemical, the pesticide dibromochloro-propane (DBCP), and used the greater toxicity of these chemiccds as one means to support the need for an uncertcunty factor to lower the value obtcuned for nPB using the benchmark dose method.
