Analytical methods are ripe for attack using Al methods. Capillary electrophoresis is a routine separation technique, but like other separation techniques, its effectiveness is correlated strongly with experimental conditions. Hence it is important to optimize experimental conditions to achieve the maximum degree of separation. Zhang and co-workers41 studied the separation of mixtures in reserpine tablets, in which vitamin B1 and dibazolum may be incompletely separated, as may promethazine hydrochloride and chloroquine... 

Tablets containing chlorpromazine and promethazine were powdered and dissolved in 95% ethanol. The absorbance of a 6 pg/mL solution was measured at 6 wavelengths, and the amount of each component calculated by a least squares method [85]. A spectrophotometric method for the simultaneous determination of 1-18 mg of chlorpromazine hydrochloride and 3-27 mg of promethazine hydrochloride (in 20 mM HCl) was presented, where the absorbance was measured over a spectral region of 275-240 nm [86].

Dual-wavelength spectrophotometric assay was used for the determination of chlorpromazine hydrochloride and promethazine hydrochloride in chlorpromazine hydrochloride composite tablets [91]. Stable regression analysis was used in the simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of chlorpromazine hydrochloride and promethazine hydrochloride in tablets without preliminary separation [92].

Cyclizine has antimuscarinic properties and is a potent anti-emetic, effective for the control of postoperative and drug-induced nausea and vomiting. It has been used to prevent motion sickness, although diphenhydramine and promethazine are more effective. It is available in oral and parenteral formulations. In contrast to many other first-generation antihistamines sedation is not marked. It is available in tablet form as the hydrochloride and in injectable form as the lactate. Because of its anticholinergic action, blurred vision and dry mouth are associated with clinical doses. When given by rapid intravenous injection tachycardia may be a problem. Meclozine is a related drug which, like cyclizine, is used primarily for motion sickness.
