The Incident. Parts coming off the press were of good quality and the press was operating normally. To rearrange the stack of material to be cut and to spray water on it, which was done to eliminate static electricity, the operator stopped the press, by pushing the bottom safety bar at the platen location—what should have been a prohibitive practice except in an emergency. The circuitry did not require a resetting of the safety device to restart the press. [Pg.153]

Subpart G — Prohibited Practices, is the last Subpart to Part 392. Although there are several prohibited practices listed under Subpart G, we will only review a couple of the regulations we believe are the most important. The first deals with unauthorized passengers. [Pg.420]

To Wiley, the Food and Drug Act was his mandate to insure the country a pure and honest food supply more than it was a specific statute with specific legal requirements and limitations. Thus, although the law mentioned colors only to prohibit their addition to conceal inferiority and to ban their use, if poisonous, in confectionary, Wiley believed, as part of his overall suspicions of chemical additives, that the use of coal tar colors was a practice requiring, at the least, thorough investigation. [Pg.138]

Spray cleaning of parts with solvent, using an airless gun similar to a paint sprayer, is also practiced. Spray cleaning is typically performed in a ventilated fume hood so as to protect the worker from solvent fumes. In addition to the fume hood, an emissions control system is often required. Many local air quality agencies prohibit the spray cleaning of parts with solvent or require an appropriate emission control system to be in place. [Pg.226]

When molding a product with a variable wall thickness, it is possible to vary the thickness of the preform. This is usually accomplished by baffling. Another approach that can be used is to completely block off areas where no fiber is desired. This action saves material that would otherwise be trimmed off and probably discarded. It has also proven practical to combine two or more preforms into one molded part. This technique is very useful where the thickness of the molded part prohibits the collection of the preform in one piece. [Pg.476]

It is true that the same paragraph of the Verification Annex (Part X, para. 41) states that [t]he provisions in this paragraph may not be invoked by the inspected State Party to conceal evasion of its obligations not to engage in activities prohibited under this Convention . How effective this provision could be in practice, however, is an open question. [Pg.88]

For the legislator, the question arises as to whether the (possible) infectivity of a dentist (physician) constitutes an exceptionally high risk and to what extent hygiene-related stipulations and other legal measures can provide a remedy. The legislator, however, reserves the right to prohibit the practice of certain occupational activities in whole or in part . In some cases, this channel has already been pursued by the responsible authorities (even somewhat inappropriately). [Pg.430]

The Signatory Powers, to the end that this prohibition shall be universally accepted as a part of international law binding alike the conscience and practice of nations, declare their assent to such prohibition, agree to be bound thereby as between themselves and invite all other civilized nations to adhere thereto. [Pg.634]

If a client is noncompliant with a medication, try to find out why. Are they forgetting, or can they not afford to purchase them It is critical that social workers be aware of circumstances in the environment that can prohibit compliance. Once identified, efforts to improve compliance simply become part of competent, ethical, and comprehensive practice. [Pg.265]

Yet despite its widespread development and use in the years following the First World War, gas warfare was still technically illegal. The Allied Powers described it as a prohibited form of warfare at Versailles in 1919 and banned the importation and manufacture of poison gas in Germany for all time. Three years later, the Washington Treaty went even further the civilised Powers decreed that the banning of chemical warfare should be universally accepted as part of international law binding alike to the conscience and practice of nations . [Pg.31]
