Properties Rods or needlelike crystals. Soluble in water and glycols. Unstable in aqueous solution, stable in dry form. It enhances estrone and progesterone production. Units One international unit equals the activity of 0.1 mg of a standard preparation.

The USP assay method for tolnaftate in powder and aerosol powder product requires extraction of the drug with methanol prior to HPLC analysis. Progesterone is used as the internal standard.
