Process selection purpose

The next step should be acquisition of experimental data through laboratory studies. In this laboratory work the students should prepare the commodity according to the process selected, for the purpose of acquiring necessary data for plant design. All thermal, chemical, and physical data... [Pg.498]

One of the main purposes of control is to ensure safe working conditions, but a plant should not be designed first and controlled second, so consideration is given to safety and its influence on process selection. Techniques for evaluating risk are briefly mentioned, together with some of the approaches that can contribute to an enhancement of safety levels. [Pg.158]

Eor selection purposes, only suppliers characteristics dependent manufacturing costs MC need to be accounted for. In this case, these are only overtime costs, which are computed as overtime cost B times the number of items processed in overtime. [Pg.190]

CONSULTANT SELECTION PROCESS The purpose of this exercise is to enable you and your team to further explore the consultant selection process by viewing it from the perspective of a consulting firm seeking an assignment. Suggested tasks are ... [Pg.402]

Production quantity per annum - The number of components to be produced to account for the economic feasibibty of the manufacturing process. The quantities specified for selection purposes are in the ranges ... [Pg.24]

Frequency Allocations. Under ideal conditions, an optimum frequency or frequency band should be selected for each appHcation of microwave power. Historically, however, development of the radio spectmm has been predominantly for communications and information processing purposes, eg, radar or radio location. Thus within each country and to some degree through international agreements, a complex Hst of frequency allocations and regulations on permitted radiated or conducted signals has been generated. Frequency allocations developed later on a much smaller scale for industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) appHcations. [Pg.337]

In this process, the fine powder of lithium phosphate used as catalyst is dispersed, and propylene oxide is fed at 300°C to the reactor, and the product, ahyl alcohol, together with unreacted propylene oxide is removed by distihation (25). By-products such as acetone and propionaldehyde, which are isomers of propylene oxide, are formed, but the conversion of propylene oxide is 40% and the selectivity to ahyl alcohol reaches more than 90% (25). However, ahyl alcohol obtained by this process contains approximately 0.6% of propanol. Until 1984, ah ahyl alcohol manufacturers were using this process. Since 1985 Showa Denko K.K. has produced ahyl alcohol industriahy by a new process which they developed (6,7). This process, which was developed partiy for the purpose of producing epichlorohydrin via ahyl alcohol as the intermediate, has the potential to be the main process for production of ahyl alcohol. The reaction scheme is as fohows ... [Pg.74]
