Probenecid, either 500 mg twice daily, 1 g daily, or 2 g daily was added to ticarcillin 3 g every 4 hours, which was being given to treat infections in adult cystic fibrosis patients. In all cases the clearance of ticarcillin was reduced by about 27% with the 500-mg dose regimen, by about 32% with the 1-g dose regimen and by about 43% with the 2-g dose regimen. ...
