Low-Smoke Low-Odor Inks, Low-smsolvent-based heat-set inks currently used. These inks contain lower concentrations of solvents (e. g., 20% instead of 40%), with a smaller proportion of saturated hydrocaibon solvents and none of tiie photochemlcally-reactive solvents, yet have printing and ink-film properties typical of beat-set inks. Some of these inks contain exempt solvents (e. g., low-boiling azeotropic mixtures), some contain high-boiling co-solvents (e.g., long-chain alcohols), others contain emulsfiad water. 

To date, these conjugated polymers have been reported to exhibit light emission in the entire visible spectrum [222], with quantum efficiency over 4% [223], response time of 1 i,s [224], brightness of about 10 cd/m [225] and device lifetime of 1000 hours [226]. Recently, it has been shown that polymer displays can be fabricated using methods such as screen printing and ink-jet printing [227]. The six processable polymers covering the whole visible spectrum are summarised in Table 13.1.

Santel HR-97 is a water-based primer for all grades of films which is used to ioq>rove printing adhesion and lay down properties. Certain films are difficult to print and inks may not have adequate adhesion for packaging applications. J >plying Santel HR-97 to the surface of the film, prior to printing, will greatly improve ink lay down on press and final print adhesion values. 

Stoichiometry is relatively easy to control with spin coating, screen printing, and ink-jet printing, and these methods are less expensive. They are also more suited to preparing large-scale electrodes. The requirement of a suspension system in spin...
