Principal Features

Recently a number of experiments have been carried out to clear up the physical nature of the phenomenon [8-11]. A lot of experimental data describing the kinetics of cone s filling with various liquids have been obtained. One of the principal features of the phenomenon is that it takes place only if a gas inside a channel is bounded by liquid surfaces of different curvatures. [Pg.616]

Kuhni contacters (Eig. 15e) have gained considerable commercial application. The principal features are the use of a shrouded impeller to promote radial discharge within the compartments, and a variable hole arrangement to allow flexibility of design for different process applications. Columns up to 5 m in diameter have been constmcted (176). Description and design criteria for Kuhni extraction columns have been reported (177,178). [Pg.76]

Polyphenols. Another increa singly important example of the chemical stabilization process is the production of phenoHc foams (59—62) by cross-linking polyphenols (resoles and novolacs) (see Phenolic resins). The principal features of phenoHc foams are low flammabiUty, solvent resistance, and excellent dimensional stabiUty over a wide temperature range (59), so that they are good thermal iasulating materials. [Pg.406]

The principal features of an integral tri-pack are shown in Figure 8. The color records are stacked in the order shown, with the red record on the bottom, the green record next, and the blue record on the top. The blue record is on the top because it is necessary to interpose a blue light filter to remove... [Pg.471]

The word total in performance based total productive maintenance has four meanings that describe the principal features of PTPM ... [Pg.724]

I MHC-peptide complexes and those that recognize class 11 MHC-peptide complexes utilize the same set of Va and Vp genes, and the principal feature that defines the site of class 1 MHC-TCR interaction, the cleft formed by the a and az subunits of the MHC molecule, is shared by both class 1 and class... [Pg.318]

The thermal properties are of interest to both the user of the end-product and to the processor. From the user s point of view the principal features are the very low thermal conductivity (approx. 0.13 W/mK) and the comparatively low softening point. Standard tests give softening points of about 90°C, that is below the boiling point of water. In addition many properties are affected by temperature Figure 16.11). [Pg.436]

The principal features of acetal resins leading to commercial application may be summarised as follows ... [Pg.538]

Fig. 6.9. Two-dimensional numerical simulations are depicted for the Sandia Momma Bear fixture. Pressure contours within one-half the powder compact are shown at various times. The principal feature shown is the development of a radial-mode loading due to the low shock impedance of the powder (after Graham [87G03]). Fig. 6.9. A principal feature of GFC is its minimal interaction with the sample. This gentle technique allows for high recovery of enzymatic activity. For example,... [Pg.102]

Combinations of H2O2 and Fe(II) salts, generally known as Fenton reagents, have for many years been used in organic and polymer chemistry, Medalia and Kolthoff [77] summarized the principal features of this reaction. [Pg.489]

The principal features of seawater and formation waters affecting the marine and offshore corrosion engineering design progress are discussed in the following sections. [Pg.63]

Immunoglobulins play a key role in the defense mechanisms of the body, as do proteins of the complement system. Some of the principal features of these proteins are described. [Pg.597]

The major proteins (which include spectrin, ankyrin, the anion exchange protein, actin, and band 4.1) have been studied intensively, and the principal features of their disposition (eg, integral or peripheral), structure, and function have been established. [Pg.615]

Table 53-1 summarizes some principal features of cytochrome P450s. [Pg.628]

In this section, we will describe the principal features of the main methods and the information that the Rietveld analysis generally delivers, especially related to the investigations on poor crystallites and multiphase compounds. This introduction is not exhaustive there are hundreds of articles that explore practically all of the aspects of this kind of analysis and now, 40 years after the first article [43], new improvements and results are still being published. [Pg.135]

The principal features of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act have been briefly and clearly presented by Perry (19) the full text and interpretations of the act are also available (28, 29). [Pg.59]
